American Airlines New Checked Bag Policy

Apparently, AA thinks that they are moving in the right direction but my conclusion is far from it.
They are slowly drifting towards a new direction; to make passengers lives miserable.
As per Traveling Better,
“Effective October 1, 2014, AA will no longer through check bags when the passenger presents separate tickets at the ticket counter except as noted below.
Customers traveling on separate tickets will only be able to through check bags when the ticket is for travel on:

American Airlines and American Eagle
US Airways and US Express
oneworld partner airline

For all other carriers ticketed separately, bag will only be checked for the AA, US or oneworld partner flight. The customer will need to recheck their bags with the other carrier for the continuing travel.”

This means a lot of missed connections, lost luggage and more hassle for the consumers. Before it was extremely easy to check bags to the final destination even with One World and Non One World Partners on separate tickets. For example, if I had to travel from SFO to SEA on Alaska and from their on AA to DFW on a separate ticket, I could easily get the customer rep to check my luggage to DFW. But not anymore.

Now we need to remember the new policy, so if we have international connections on Etihad or other Non One World Partners, we will need ample time to check bags, collect them and check bags again to the final destination.
