Review: Conrad Koh Samui

Conrad Koh Samui was our first stop on the three-week tour. We took a quick hour long flight from Bangkok on Bangkok Airways.
I used two of my free night certificates from Citi Hilton Reserve Card and booked two more nights using the Hilton Points to make it a 4-night stay. I had arranged for a taxi pickup from the Koh Samui airport which is highly advisable as there are way too many scooters on the road. On our way to the resort, we stopped at the grocery store to fill up on few items such as snacks, milk, etc.

The resort is on top of a steep hill on the west side of the island and is a good 40-45 minute from the airport. As we approached the top of the hill to the main entrance, we were greeted with cold towels and drinks.

All the rooms are the same across the resort. Before our arrival, I did request that we get an uninterrupted view of the sea and were assigned villa 304 which offered a magnificent view of the sea and the five islands. Resort uses buggies to transport guests across the resort. We were quickly checked in and were off to our villa. Make sure that you are holding on to the rails in the buggy as the pathways are like roller coasters.

As soon as we entered the room, the TV was on and had the welcome message on it. I love such simple acts as it makes you feel special.

There was a king bed in the middle of the room with really high ceilings. I also had requested a roll away bed, which was already in the villa next to the king bed.

The villa had two areas separated by a wooden wall. The bath area was on the right side, and the living space was on the left. On the immediate right was the walk-in closet. We stored all of our luggage, strollers, car seats in there.

The bathroom had his and her areas with all the amenities as expected in a Conrad resort.

Plenty of water bottles were available throughout the villa and were replenished daily by the room service.

There were two separate entrances to the to the pool area. We could either enter via the main room or the bath area. The view was spectacular, scenic and soothing.

There were two sun loungers by the infinity pool. The pool is approx 10 meters in length and 3 meters in width with a uniform depth of 4 feet.
I usually used the loungers during the evening hours as it was too hot during day time.

The villas are separated and offer privacy. You can hardly peek into other villas or the pools which are on the lower levels.

As a Hilton Diamond, we had free breakfast every day. If you are going to the breakfast after 8:00 AM, make sure you give yourself plenty of time for the buggy. It’s peak hour, and the buggies are busy across the resort. As compared to other Conrad resorts (Hong Kong, Bali, Maldives) breakfast options were limited. There were an omelet and noodle station along with fresh fruits, juices, and few hot items. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the breakfast area as I was always out of cell phone battery.
As Diamond, we were given four drink coupons which we utilized at the bar by the beach. Resort also offers a free shuttle service to the other side of the island and shopping malls which we availed twice to shop for souvenirs and restaurants.

My 2 Cents:
Conrad Koh Samui is a spectacular resort which breathtaking views and beauty. It’s far from the city center in a quiet part of the island. If you are looking for a place to relax and wind down, you cannot go wrong.
